Did you know that last year, 493 horses died or were euthanized within 72 hours of sustaining a catastrophic race injury? That’s about 10 horses each week. In the last ten years, a total of 6,134 horses have died. That tally doesn’t include deaths from training. Not to mention what happens to these majestic horses once they are done racing…not making money any longer.
As fellow animal lovers, we know you understand our grief when an animal arrives at the Sanctuary gates with clear signs of abuse and neglect. Each of our rescues has distinct personalities, and each has suffered their own real-life nightmare.
Thanks to our dedicated donors, the Sanctuary can provide a safe haven to all types of farm animals. If you walked through our pasture, you’d see over 300 farm pigs, cats, dogs, horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, turkeys, and even a blind cow.
You are saving animals like George, who came to the Sanctuary as a retired racehorse, suffering neglect once his winning days were over. Now in his senior years, George’s care is far more costly, but we know he’s worth it. I hope he will live many more years in the comfort of his new home.
Truffles was found abused and left to die alone in a hotel. Authorities called dozens of groups pleading for their help, but none were able to. We quickly agreed to take in Truffles, and now she is one of our most social and thriving potbelly pigs!
Our animals are living longer lives, which is exactly what we wish for them. But we exist solely by the generous support of animal lovers like you. Will you make a gift today to ensure continued support of our 500+ rescues?
Your gift truly makes a world of difference. Thank you for your compassion.
